From August 1, 2025, EPFO will mandate Aadhaar-based Face Authentication in the UMANG app for UAN generation, ensuring error-free allotment.

• Existing employer-based UAN generation will continue only for exceptional cases like international workers and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan.
• Aadhaar-based FAT pre-populates data, enabling immediate UAN activation and instant access to EPFO services like passbook viewing and claim submission.
• UMANG app also supports UAN activation for existing users and downloading e-UAN cards for employer onboarding.
