India Ready If Russian Oil Hit

  Published 1 year ago

India can meet its oil needs from alternative sources if Russian supplies face sanctions, says Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

  • India imports from 40 countries now, up from 27 earlier, reducing reliance on any single source like Russia.
  • New suppliers like Guyana, Brazil, and Canada add options; India is boosting local oil exploration and production.
  • Russia remains the top supplier at 35%; IOC plans to revert to pre-crisis sourcing if Russian imports are disrupted.
