India Scraps Uniform Green Energy Tariff

  Published 10 months ago

India has withdrawn its central tariff system for renewable projects to speed up power deals and clear project backlogs.

  • Solar and hybrid tariff pools, introduced in February 2024, aimed to protect buyers from price fluctuations over three years.
  • Developers said tariff uncertainty made buyers reluctant to sign contracts, delaying project execution.
  • Existing bids and awards under the scheme will stay valid despite the policy rollback, the government confirmed.
