India Steel Imports Decline in April

India's finished steel imports dropped 11.3% YoY in April to 0.5M metric tons, driven by declines from China & Japan after a 12% safeguard duty was imposed. Despite this, India remained a net steel importer.

  • China & Japan import volumes significantly decreased.
  • South Korea became India's largest steel supplier.
  • Imports from France & Germany sharply increased.
