India's kharif crop acreage rose 1.68% in 2023, with rice, pulses, and oilseeds seeing significant growth, while coarse cereals and cotton declined slightly.

  • Rice acreage up 13.25% to 4.53 lakh hectares, pulses and oilseeds surged 18% and 36% respectively.
  • Coarse cereals dipped 0.02% to 5.89 lakh hectares, and sugarcane edged up 0.34% to 55.07 lakh hectares.
  • Cotton area eased 0.09% to 13.09 lakh hectares amid mixed kharif crop performance.
