June Heatwave Cuts India’s Tea Output

India’s tea output dropped 9% YoY in June to 133.5 million kg, mainly due to heat and weak rainfall.

  • Assam’s tea production fell 9.7% to 68.55 million kg amid 42% monsoon rainfall deficit.
  • CTC tea exports were led by Egypt and UK; orthodox tea shipped to Iraq, Iran and Russia.
  • Despite June dip, Jan–Jun 2025 tea output rose 13.4% YoY to 469.72 million kg on strong April-May recovery.
