RBI Reports 7% Rise in Currency

RBI says India’s currency in circulation rose 7% YoY to ₹38.25 lakh crore as of July 11, 2025.

  • Weekly currency circulation grew 1%, and reserve money edged up 0.1% to ₹49.26 lakh crore.
  • Fiscal year-to-date, currency in circulation increased 2.7%, while reserve money rose by 2%.
  • Growth in currency circulation outpaces the previous year’s 6.6% YoY rise, reflecting steady demand for cash.
