RBI Reports Currency Growth, May 2025

The RBI reported a slight increase in currency circulation (+0.03% to Rs 38.42 lakh crore as of May 16, 2025) and reserve money (+0.10% to Rs 49.36 lakh crore). Year-over-year currency growth accelerated to 7.2%.

  • Currency in circulation up 7.2% YoY.
  • Reserve money increased by 0.10% WoW.
  • FY25 currency growth is at 3.30%.
